With a broad background spanning 30 years, both in industry and serving clients in my own practice, I have a unique blend of experience and skills that differentiates me from many other CPA's. This background provides in-depth experience in individual and business tax and financial matters, as well as a business executive's insight and perspective.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

I have been a CPA for 30 years, including 14 years serving in senior management positions in industry-in both Fortune 100 and small growth company environments, and 16 years providing tax, accounting and consulting services to diverse clients in a variety of industries. Additionally, I have been a part-time University Professor for 12 years, and I currently serve on the Board of Directors of a publicly traded company.

Originally from New York, I earned my Bachelors of Business Administration in Public Accounting from Pace University and my Certified Public Accountant license, after which I moved to South Florida in the early 1980's.

I then entered the corporate world, working for 6 years for Fleet Financial Group (later acquired by Bank of America) as Corporate Group Controller and Assistant Secretary for multiple asset-based lending subsidiaries. Accomplishments and responsibilities included:

  • Successfully managed 2400% growth ($25 to $600 million), integrating numerous mergers and acquisitions; structured debt and designed/implemented reorganization of staff, systems and workflows to accomplish expansion.
  • Oversight and administration of a diverse financial products portfolio consisting of over 80,000 accounts.
  • Controlled tax data and remittances of over $40 million from over 100 consolidating entities for accurate and timely compliance; near perfect record of no-change audits.
  • Implemented/converted numerous enterprise accounting and cost accounting systems and databases.
  • Achieved substantial productivity increase/cost savings from automation, restructuring and austerity measures.

Subsequently, I worked for 8 years in the high-tech, communications, and media space with Viacom-MTV and ATT-Liberty Media at The Box Worldwide Inc. subsidiary as Vice President-Finance and Administration/Chief Financial Officer. Accomplishments and responsibilities included:

  • Successfully managed growth from 30 domestic locations reaching 2 million households, to over 200 profit/cost centers reaching over 65 million households worldwide, while maintaining lean and efficient cost structures.
  • Financial oversight of international and domestic operations, including Finance, Strategic Planning, Treasury, Risk Management, Administration, Human Resources, Sales Operations, Customer Service, Internet Commerce and Retail Merchandising.
  • Participated in various successful efforts raising substantial equity investment capital.
  • Due diligence, planning and coordination of numerous acquisitions/startups.

After working in corporate for 14 years, the past 16 years have been devoted to my consulting, accounting, and tax practice full time. Services I have provided include:

  • Accounting; Financial planning; and Tax planning, preparation, and representation-for individual and business clients.
  • Consulting and support for business startup, acquisition, growth, turnaround, reorganization, and disposition.


My other professional activities during this period include:
  • I earned my MBA from Nova-Southeastern University in 2004.
  • I have been a part-time University Professor for 14 years, teaching several hundred graduate and undergraduate students.
  • I currently serve on the Board of Directors of a publicly traded company as Chairman of the Audit and Compensation committees, responsible for corporate governance and oversight.
